The fall fishing on Table Rock is really heating up as it begins to slowly cool down. Fish are scattered shallow to deep with the thermocline broken up but once you find them and the right pattern on the right day they’ve been cooperative. Early in the morning and on windy/cloudy days look for a good top water bite. Fish will be dead shallow on the banks or suspended in cedar tops around secondary points to the back end of the creeks biting spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and the whopper plopper. Shallow running crankbaits, tubes and finesse jigs are working great on flatter main lake flats and points for the smallmouth . I’ve started catching them on the wiggle wart and a few on the rock crawler when the winds been blowing good. I’ve been doing the best on a 3/8 ounce finesse football jig in green pumpkin candy fishing it and a tube 8-15′ deep on these smallmouth banks Baxter to the dam. The deeper fish I’ve been catching on dropshot’s and spoons are coming 38-45’deep on the main lake flat gravel points. Seem to be getting deeper by the day.
Down on Taneycomo the trout fishing is a blast right now! There’s a ton of smaller sized trout from the 65 hwy bridge to the Branson Landing you can have fun with catching numbers. Bigger trout further up to Fall Creek are coming on trout magnets, micro jigs and midges below a float with a 4-8′ leader depending on the depth.
