It’s been a fantastic week fishing on Table Rock! Haven’t found much going on for the deep fish, catching a few in the backs of creeks 30′-50′ deep over timber. On the main lake the dam area, Kimberling City to Campbell Point area been doing well on the smallmouth on the cloudy/windy days catching them on jerkbaits and slowly winding the Alabama rig.  With the warmer water temp’s this winter the smallmouth are up shallower feeding on the  flat gravel banks mixed with a bit of bigger rock . My best jerkbaits I’ve been catching them on are a norman flake or spooky shad Mcstick, or Smithwick foxy shad colored rogue. No need to pause the bait between twitches too long, 3-5 seconds is long enough. Most bites will come out of 6′-12′ of water on these banks. Noticed quite a few times in the last few weeks if the fish won’t commit to the jerkbait or slap at it they’ll be likely to hit the A-rig so have both on the deck ready to switch over to. Really need wind or just a good chop to get bit even on the cloudy days. I’ve also been catching quite a few slowly winding a wiggle wart or rock crawler on the rockier banks nearby.

The trout fishing below on Taneycomo has been great too!  Downtown Branson area around the bridges and landing there’s a lot of nice sized trout around biting with no or little water flow. Early try casting and jigging a 1/8 ounce sculpin jig a few feet off the bottom. I’ve been throwing the 1/8 jig in sculpin olive mixed with tan or peach. If the trout are reluctant to bite the jig throw a pink trout worm or  trout magnet below a float on a 1/100th ounce head with a 6′-8′ leader.
