February 25,2017 Table Rock Lake Fishing Guide Report

Lake Level 906.7
Normal Pool 915.0
Water Temp 52-55 degrees

It’s been quite the great week fishing on Table Rock Lake. Unseasonably warm temps outside have the water warmer than normal for late February bringing up many fish shallow thinking about spring. Had a couple guide trips this week on Table Rock did well fishing the gravel points on the main lake mostly catching smallmouth and a few fat pre-spawn spotted bass. Mainly throwing jerkbaits if there’s any wind my best lure and color has been the Spro McStick jerkbait and Rogue. No need to pause the bait between twitches too long, 3-5 seconds is long enough. Dark cloudy days baits with a white or chartreuse belly seem to work the best and sunny days baits with a clear belly or lots of silver flash are getting the bites. Also been catching them swimming a 3/16 ounce smoke/pepper grub off the bottom on the same banks. I’ve mainly been fishing from Kimberling City to the Campbell Point area for these fish. In the James River arm I know the white bass are starting to show up in schools from the Piney Creek area up to Point 15 mark. Fish the flats early and late with an A-Rig, pointer 78 jerkbait or swimming minnow for lots of fun!

Down below on Lake taneycomo the trout fishing is fantastic this winter! Each day has been different because of little or no water generation. Been doing a little trout fishing around downtown Branson with the water on. Use a a pink trout worm or  trout magnet below a float on a 1/100th ounce head with a 6′-8′ leader or orange power egg on a small jig head. More and nicer trout have been comin from Fall Creek down to Short Creek on the same trout worm/magnet set up and 1/8 ounce sculpin jig hopping a bit off the bottom.
